I have an 8 year old boy (as you know) and am protective of him as well. As a parent, I can't imagine and process the loss of a child. It's simply not supposed to happen that you bury your child before you pass. The sadness is overwhelming and perhaps your dream was some connection to the universe of the real life occurrence. I applaud you for making difficult decisions that may make you unpopular with K for a brief time but will be worthy in the end if her safety is assured. You have to be extra vigilant with K as she has the previously mentioned fearless gene so discretion being the better part of valor comes to mind here.
